Goldstone Deep Space Station is located at Fort Irwin Military Base just 35 miles north of Barstow. Goldstone is managed by ITT Corp, under contract to NASA. 'Mars' is the largest of the Goldstone antennas, with a diameter of 230' (70 meters) and is 24 stories high (250' or 76meters). Its total weight is over 8,000 U.S.tons (7200 metric tons).
